The Sober Corps approach is proven effective. By pairing long-sober mentors with individuals who need support in their recovery processes, we’re improving the effectiveness of 12-step recovery programs and reducing rates of relapse. If you’d like to join us in our vision to see the Sober Corps program model reach even greater heights by joining our ranks as a mentor, please contact us. We’re always looking to increase our reach in the Twin Cities area, and becoming a mentor is a great way to share your journey to sobriety in a positive way that will have a memorable impact on an individual. In order to be a mentor you must:
- Make a commitment to attending our training sessions, followed by 8-12 months in a mentor relationship.
- Pledge to be available to your assigned mentee on a regular basis which typically include weekly phone contact at two in person meetings per month.
- Be available for quarterly meetings with fellow mentors where you can share the successes and challenges of mentoring.
“The Sober Corps focus on jobs, housing, stability and long-term mentoring, along with self-help groups, is the essence of long-term change and recovery. I heartily endorse their vision and commitment.”
— Bob Olander, Former Director of Hennepin County Chemical Health Services
