Sober Corps Founder Fred Myers Passes Away

We’re sad to share that Sober Corps President and Founder Fred Myers passed away Saturday, September 7. The upcoming 12 Holes for 12 Steps Golf Tournament will be held in honor of Fred with a dedication during the program portion of the event.

Fred’s active involvement in the community, generous heart and lively spirit will be sorely missed by all who knew him. His passion and vision were the foundation for Sober Corps, an organization that helps individuals break free from the cycle of addiction and choose to embrace their second chance. Through Sober Corps and the many other groups and organizations that have been honored with Fred’s involvement, his presence will live on and continue to serve others.

A celebration of Fred’s life will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, September 16, at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Edina, located at 50th Street and Wooddale Avenue, with a visitation at 10 a.m. Memorials may be made to The Minneapolis Foundation for the 2218 Preservation Endowment Fund, the AA chapter Fred was a member of for more than 40 years, 800 IDS Center, 80 S.
